Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways to share your gifts with the Dominican Center.

Volunteer Form
Please fill out this VOLUNTEER FORM if you would like to volunteer with Dominican Center.

Housing
Dominican Center has volunteer opportunities to support Housing & Economic development in Amani. Check back for updates concerning events like Rock the Block, community clean ups, and our Bloom & Groom plant sale. To hear about other opportunities to support our Housing Program, reach out to Housing Coordinator Amanda Clark at [email protected]
Education
Volunteer tutors are an integral part of our adult education programming, providing both academic support as well as friendship. We believe the care and trust fostered through these friendships is critical to the self and community efficacy necessary to achieve neighborhood revitalization.

Tutors are asked to commit at least two hours, one day per week. Sessions are held Monday through Thursday, 9 to 11:30 a.m. If you’re interested in making a difference in the life of a student, please contact Dr. Barbara Wells at 414-444-9930. Reading specialists and those with teaching experience are especially needed.

Safety
If you live in the Amani Neighborhood and want to make a difference in you community, become a Block Ambassador. Block Ambassadors in the Amani Ambassadors Council of Amani United are responsible for being a liaison of resources, organization and to be a representative of your block. As a Block Ambassador, you are the one who unites your neighborhood. Together, you can build a vision for a just and united block. Click here to apply to become a Block Ambassador. Click here to join Amani United. For more information, contact Amani United President Bro. RiceBey at [email protected] or 414.444.9930.

Events
While our Annual Fundraiser has been postponed, the planning is in full swing! We’re looking for individuals with experience in fundraising, soliciting donations and event planning and welcome all new ideas and fresh perspective. For more information, please contact Christina Chronister at [email protected] or 414-444-9930.

Volunteering for College Students
Volunteering while you're in college is a great way to get experience in your chosen field, give back to your community, and learn of opportunities after college. Study.com recently released a comprehensive guide to volunteering in college that offers information and resources on:
  • The many benefits of volunteering
  • Examples of volunteering opportunities on campus, in the community, and abroad
  • How to transition from a volunteer position to a career
  • Organizations around the country that offer volunteering programs
  • How to balance volunteer work with college studies
